KROONDAL
A hamlet just south of Rustenburg. A Hermannsburg Missionary Society mission station was established on the farm Kronendal in 1858. Smallholdings was established for farmers in 1889. Mostly for German speaking people.
Lutheran Church

Lutheran Church - This church was built in 1895. Declared a National Monument in 1980.
Old Lutheran School

This building was completed early in 1898. This was the first permanent school building in this area. It was reduced to rubble during the ABW and rebuilt by the community. Declared a National Monument in 1984.
Battle of Buffelspoort

Battle of Buffelspoort – on the R104 between Kroondal and Mooinooi at entrance to Tharisa Minerals Conference Centre – A monument commemorates the battle on 3 December 1900. General Koos de la Rey planned to capture a British convoy passing through the Magaliesberg. All the wagons were captured.
