GLENCOE NATAL

The railway line from Durban to Johannesburg reached this point in 1889. A branch line from here to the eastern Transvaal was built in 1903. Known as Biggarsberg junction. The name was changed to Glencoe when a new town was laid out in 1921. It became a borough in 1934. A coal mining centre. It was named after a glen or valley in Scotland.

St Kyriaki Greek Orthodox Church

  • St Kyriaki Greek Orthodox Church, 26 Black Str -prev Catholic Church built in 1902. Bought by the Greek community in memory of Kiki Adalis, who was killed in a car accident.
