SPRINGS
Springs was first established as a coal-mining town in 1887. It was laid out as a township in 1904 and became a municipality in 1912. It was named after the farm The Springs, named after springs of water there.

Commonwealth War Graves Palmietfontein
Commonwealth War graves situated in Aston Lake in the district of Springs. This cemetery are for those who died in the Second World War 1939 to 1945. the graves are for those whom served during the war in the Natives Corps, Coloured Corps and the Indian Corps.
