Vrede
Vrede was founded on the farm Krynauwslust in 1863 and proclaimed a town in June 1897. The name (Peace) refers to the settlement of a dispute over the proposed site of the town.

All Saints Anglican Church, 70 Church st – Built by Thomas Cowan and Alec H Doing of Harrismith. The church was consecrated on 9 November 1890 by Bishop Knight-Bruce of Bloemfontein.
Dutch Reformed Church

Dutch Reformed Church – The cornerstone was laid on 31 October 1885 by President Brand and inaugurated in 1887. Memorial of the ABW in front of the church.
