GREEN POINT
Together with Sea Point it was a municipality from 1839. It was reconstituted in 1859 and incorporated into the Cape Town municipal area in 1913. It is named after the point of the promontory bounding Table Bay, named in 1675.
Green Point Light House
Designed and built by Herman Schutte who came from Bremen Germany in 1789. It was initiated by Sir Rufane Donkin, Acting Governor of the Cape 1820-21. It was first light on 12 April 1824. It was the first solidly constructed conventional navigational aid erected on the South African coast. It became the centre of lightkeeping tuition. Often confused as Mouille Point as another tower was built at Mouille Point but no longer in existance. It was declared a National monument on 12 January 1973.
Wreck site De Visch
Wreck site De Visch, Beach Rd – A information board was erected referring to the wreck site of the ship De Visch on 4 May 1740.
