SPRINGS

​Springs was first established as a coal-mining town in 1887. It was laid out as a township in 1904 and became a municipality in 1912. It was named after the farm The Springs, named after springs of water there.

    Church Hall – 5th St, Geduld The cornerstone was laid by Rev JM Louw on 30 November 1918. Now used as a car sales lot.

Commonwealth War Graves Palmietfontein

Commonwealth War graves situated in Aston Lake in the district of Springs. This cemetery are for those who died in the Second World War 1939 to 1945. the graves are for those whom served during the war in the Natives Corps, Coloured Corps and the Indian Corps.

Geduld Proprietary Mines War memorial



    Geduld Proprietary Mines War memorial – Plantation Rd Cnr South Main Reef Rd – dedicated of those who died during the Great War 1914-1919.

Anti-aircraft gun and Naval gun



    Anti-aircraft gun and Naval gun – outside Olympia Park Swimming Pool, Swim Re Geduld – these guns dated to the 2nd World War 1939-1945. Currently neglected, but might find new life in a proposed open-air museum in President’s Park.

Olympia Park Swimming Pool



    Olympia Park Swimming Pool – Swim Rd Geduld – dated 1932 – now dilapidated.  Next to the once famous Pam Brink stadium of 1949. All let to ruin.
